The Need for Reform in School Safety Culture

December 3, 2024, Edulyzer Oy

Acts of violence in schools are unacceptable. Addressing these issues requires collaboration between families, youth, and school staff, with the primary responsibility lying with the students themselves.

Every student has the right to a safe school environment, just as principals and teachers deserve a secure workplace. Parents must be able to trust that safety-related issues in the school community will be resolved promptly.

Concerns about physical, psychological, and social safety are difficult to bring to light in the school environment without involving various stakeholders to share their perspectives.

Eila Lindfors, the director of the ”Happiness is a Safe School” project, together with safety expert Tuomo Myllö, has conducted a survey to create a comprehensive overview of these challenges. The collected data makes it easier to identify deviations in the safety culture and plan effective measures.

Continuous deterioration in safety culture erodes the functioning of the school community. We want to support schools in developing their safety culture. By contacting us at info@edulyzer.com with the subject line ”Safety Culture,” your school can receive a free assessment.

Data enhances transparency in the school community’s operations. Transparency is the key to improvement and problem-solving.

Edulyzer Advances in Madrid City Council’s Anti-Bullying Competition

November 20, 2024, Edulyzer Oy

The solution proposed by Edulyzer and Escalae has advanced in Madrid’s data and AI-focused competition under the category “Bullying Prevention and Detection”.

How can bullying be identified when the victim chooses not to speak up?

For the competition, we delved into dozens of studies on bullying and consulted researchers and teachers.

One of the key challenges with bullying is that victims rarely inform teachers, parents, or friends about their experiences. As a result, the problem often remains hidden.

On the other hand, the studies revealed numerous insights into solutions and practices that help prevent bullying.

By combining these findings with our existing research areas and developing models to encourage open dialogue, we believe we have created a strong foundation for a system that could genuinely assist in bullying prevention and detection.

The competition’s total prize pool is €480,000, distributed across 12 categories, with bullying prevention and detection being one of them.

New Edulyzer Features Are Now Available

September 29, 2024, Edulyzer Oy

Edulyzer’s product development team worked hard throughout the summer and early fall. We’re excited to announce that the long-awaited new features are now available for our users!

Our app received significant updates during the summer, making it better than ever. With a perfect uptime of 100% and 95% of our users rating it as easy or very easy to use, we’re proud of the improvements.

For the Finnish market, we’re introducing two major new features:

Custom Surveys

You can now independently create your own surveys using Edulyzer’s survey engine and dashboard. Collect all your school community’s data in one place and leverage it for decision-making. This feature also allows you to create simple, targeted tasks if needed.

Reports on Bullying, Sexual Harassment, and Violence

Learners can now report incidents of bullying, sexual harassment, or violence—whether they’ve experienced it themselves or witnessed it happening to someone else—directly through Edulyzer. The app also provides links to support services, such as those offered by organizations like the MLL (Mannerheim League for Child Welfare).

+ Integration of School Health Survey Data into Edulyzer

Selected data from school health surveys can now be integrated into Edulyzer. This enables ongoing monitoring of well-being across the entire school and automatic updates of school health survey data into the Edulyzer system.

We are also seeking pilot schools to explore the connections between school engagement, well-being, grades, and absenteeism.

Participation in the pilot is free of charge. Schools or municipalities involved in the pilot will receive a comprehensive research report at the end of the school year. For more information, contact us at info@edulyzer.com, and we’ll get in touch to provide further details!
